What is Global Education?

Global education raises awareness on how global problems influence our everyday life and how anyone of us can change the world. It is an active learning process, which enables people to move from basic awareness of international development priorities and sustainable human development, through understanding of the causes and effects of global issues, to personal involvement and informed action.

JTIs work in this field

The aim of JTI is to raise the awareness of the Estonian population on the global challenges facing the world today. We also try to promote tolerance, empathy, respect for human rights, and solidarity between people all around the world.

JTI is one of the first NGOs in Estonia who started working on these issues. Already in 2001, the Institute published a compilation of articles on Development Cooperation. We are also active members of the Estonian Roundtable of Development Cooperation and leading a group of NGOs for schools-based development education. The Global Education materials of all the members in this groups are published in www.maailmakool.ee.
